The cellini side table April 29, 2008

My wife chose it cos it could (a) put lots of magazine, (b) could be wheeled around, and (c) well, it looks really chic
and I agree! It’s wonderful to be able to look at essentially a very rational object and say that it has distinctive design qualities… the hollow in the middle gives it an illusion of lightness and a rational approach to the function of putting drinks on a side table is met with a recess into the table-top.

Kitchen with the solid top April 29, 2008

They came yesterday to put up the solid top. It did not take as long as I thought it would and overall, I was quite satisfied with the top as well as the service by the company. The solid top is LG Hi-Macs and it is supplied by “Luxx Newhouse” or something like that. Apparently, they are also supplying the Quartz.

The wardrobe – Pt 2 – Completion April 17, 2008

This is the completed wardrobe in the MBR. The guys took about 1/2hr to 1hr just to level the tracks so that there wouldn’t be any “ghost” pushing the doors automatically… hee… also, to ensure that the edges close in properly

Floor Polishing April 10, 2008

There is a discussion going on about polishing of parquet; whether to leave it matt as the developers intended, or to polish and seal it further. Well, took the plunge, partially because I did not want any more discussion on it to grieve us further… so here it is! I must say, I do like it…

It’s completed. I am sure if I inspect it further, there will be more touch-ups but this is the first cut of what it looks like. Phew! Something is completed in the house

I didn’t go down the next day since the first day of painting and when I did, I was pleasantly surprised that the colours did blend. The lights were also up.

We didn’t hire designers but took a ICI catalogue and decided to be our own designers. Naturally there was some trepidation as to our colour scheme and choice…but it’s turning out to be a real stunner, if I may say so myself.
We didn’t start out with a colour scheme, just chose colours we liked and matched them based on the theme of the room. Along the way, we had to change to accomodate the furniture and whatnot… The person to thank is our contractor, who was really patient with us
Guess what, the uncle who is painting our flat, painted my parents’ flat 8 years ago
