QED Silver anniversary speaker cables April 25, 2008

Review is from Digital Home Magazine
The special edition QED Silver Anniversary speaker cable commemorates the manufacturer’s 25th anniversary. The cable is well made and presented – and comes with its very own certificate with the assembler’s signature attached. The Aston Martin of cables we wonder?
Using a sliver-plated oxygen-free copper construction, the cable is housed in a silvery-white outer sheath and terminated with straightforward but solid 4mm plugs. The outer sheath is tough but flexible, and bends fairly easily, allowing you to mould it around furnishings.
Hooked up to an AV amplifier, the QED sounds very good indeed. Although it tends to have a relaxed sound, there is still plenty of detail on offer. The QED is quite an all-rounder and sounds great with a wider variety of material than many of its rivals. With blockbuster movies, like Flight Club and The Matrix, the QED handles the explosive soundtracks to impressive effect with great bass effects and mellow yet detailed treble frequencies. The QED makes an impressive upgrade over standard speaker cables, and can bring your favourite movies to life. Older soundtracks like Spartacus retain their impressive dynamics and are well presented and natural sounding.
It also sounds great with music. Both dance and classical recordings are convincing – in fact, the cable is good with all music genres; Radiohead’s Amnesiac features some terrific percussive effects and these are conveyed with superb rhythm and timing.
The Silver Anniversary Edition cable from QED is great for movies as well as music and has a superb, exciting character.

As I always advocate, no use having 2 good machines if your connection is less than ideal

It’s now a discontinued model, but compared to the new DVD-1940, this one has a more rounded sound.
