Something more whimsical – but hey, it keeps us fit :P June 12, 2008

Yes, it’s temporarily sitting in the old place but will be moving it into the new place when the proper move in takes place. A good thing to do is to connect your wii to your a/v receiver and if the a/v receiver can read the signals, it will play the audio in Pro Logic II.

The wii is connected to the Onkyo, so it plays Pro Logic II on the 5.1 as well as attempts to upscale to 720p (being that the wii is not a typical HD format).

It’s really so much fun!

After all the basic furnishings, decided to have some fun getting boh liao things just to make the place a little more personalized. We spent a lot of time planning colours, items, DIY-ing furniture from that fabulous IKEA shop in Tampines. But little to speak of in terms of fun stuff.

After surfing the net, looking at www.apartmenttherapy.com for inspiration, reading a whole bunch of home interior mags, decided to get some fun stuff to line our rooms with. Then looked at www.urbanoutfitters.com, which has an apartment section. It features some funky eclectic items that  smack of dormitory, hippie chic, with emphasis on alternative rock culture and some hints of handicraft-type work.

Some people have asked us about our colour scheme and what were the exact names of the colours. Well, we didn’t have a real plan. We took the catalog and started choosing colours we like and with an understanding that they might blend with each other. Phew they worked!

The brand of paint was ICI Dulux and the varieties were mixed, from Wash & Wear, All in One, to Pentalite. The predominant variety was All in one… I believe only Plum Satin was of the Pentalite variety.

Finally, listed below are the colours that we used and the swatches, courtesy of icipaints.com.sg

Living Room Colours:
Predominant – Lime Tint
Recessed wall – Cool Slate
Window wal – Kiwi Gold

Dining and Kitchen Access Colours:
Predominant – Lime Tint
Kitchen Access – Silver Mink

Study Room Colours:
Predominant – Cornfield
Beam – Glacier Grey

Bedroom 1 Colours:
Predominant – Forever Blue

Master Bedroom Colours:
Predominant – Monsoon River
Secondary – Plum Satin

We spied this for a really long time… it went from not needed to would be nice to have to going to Dubai to see if it was cheaper there (unfortunately…it was!). Didn’t buy it then as we went through the same, should we or should we not indulge. Well, in the end, the Robinsons’ sales did the trick… hee hee…

so there you go, The Richardson Sheffield So Eat range of cutlery – “Chill”

Able to upscale to 1080p…and plays SACD. Good part is that it allows for analogue audio output as well as digital so you can choose how you’d like to output your cds (as sometimes, output from digital might be a tad too crisp for some)

It’s outdated, a tad old fashion but it packs a good tight sound when it comes to interpreting home theater. :)

My wife chose it cos it could (a) put lots of magazine, (b) could be wheeled around, and (c) well, it looks really chic :P and I agree! It’s wonderful to be able to look at essentially a very rational object and say that it has distinctive design qualities… the hollow in the middle gives it an illusion of lightness and a rational approach to the function of putting drinks on a side table is met with a recess into the table-top.

They came yesterday to put up the solid top. It did not take as long as I thought it would and overall, I was quite satisfied with the top as well as the service by the company. The solid top is LG Hi-Macs and it is supplied by “Luxx Newhouse” or something like that. Apparently, they are also supplying the Quartz.
